About Magnolia House

Assisted living care at Magnolia House is personal and caring. We strive to enhance the lives of seniors and make them feel good about themselves. Our care can make a significant difference in the way seniors spend their time and live their daily lives.

Our philosophy is comprehensive care that preserves the dignity and nurtures the spirit. Magnolia House is a new home designed for a maximum of 6 seniors where family and friends are always welcome.

By providing services that are personal, not corporate, our residents at Magnolia house receive one-on one attention and experience the charm of gracious living. To help our residents enjoy life and keep both body and mind active, weekly activities such as game day, afternoon or nighttime movies, supervised walks on beautiful walking trails, as well as other activities are available. During the holidays, special performances by local school children will be presented to our residents.

Located in Double Diamond Ranch in Reno, Nevada, Magnolia House is surrounded by walking trails, parks and single family houses with shopping nearby to provide a community environment for our residents.

ABOUT THE STAFF

Owner: Dr. Kathryn Runyan. Dr. Runyan has worked with individuals with disabilities for 30 years. She is a cognitive learning therapist and has extensive knowledge of activities to keep the mind active and to enhance continued learning in seniors. Due to experiencing her own mother’s need to live her last years in a setting where she could maintain her dignity and continue to learn and enjoy life Dr. Runyan envisioned and created Magnolia House.

Licensed Administrator: April Abshere. April is Dr. Runyan’s daughter and she experienced her grandmothers’ last years and is devoted to having a care home that will provide quality and loving care for seniors. April has a background in medical training and is certified as a medical technician. She is a certified phlebotomist and is trained in CPR. She worked several years for family doctors who served children to seniors. April is caring and devoted to providing the best care possible for seniors at Magnolia House.

Live in staff are certified in CPR and first Aid and have the personal characteristics of caring and kindness for seniors.
